33s on a 3rd gen without a CMC — who's actually done it?

Running 285/70R17s on a 3in lift and I'm getting a light rub on the body mount at full lock, mostly in reverse. Everyone on the forums says CMC immediately, but I'd rather not cut the truck if a washer relocation and a little massaging would do it. Anyone running 33s for a few years without a chop? What did you do instead?

Second vote for the chop. The washer trick buys you clearance at ride height and nothing at articulation. Mine took a nick in the first month of trail use before I cut it.

Ran 33s for two years on a 3in with just a washer relocation and a fender liner trim. It works fine on the street. It does not work once you disconnect the sway bar — the tire walks right back into the mount at full stuff. If you wheel it at all, do the chop.
